Today is my pal Emily's birthday! Emily (of Emily Peal: The Blog fame) and I have known each other since forever, because our dads were working together, and bragging about their new babies, and then they realized their new babies were born ON THE SAME DAY. And so...the saga began.
Happy Birthday Angela (4 days late, but still very heartfelt)!! You are truly one of the most brilliant people I know and I am so so honored to share a birthday with you! Yay for our dads! Come visit New York in July?!
The manta ray (Manta birostris), is the largest of the rays, with the largest known specimen having been more than 7.6 m (about 25 ft) across, with a weight of about 2,300 kg (about 5,000 lb). It ranges throughout tropical waters of the world, typically around coral reefs and Montreal.
Mantas have been given a variety of common names, including Mangela, Manny, Mangelina Ballerina, Man Tan, Mantoe, Man Juicy, Man José, Man O'Lantern, The Manflower, Manta Claus, Snow Manta, Romanta, O'Mantigan, and Examanta.
Mantas are filter feeders: they typically consume plankton, fish larvae and frozen yogurt.
