Happy Belated El Niño Day!
Yesterday being Liverpool player Fernando Torres's birthday, naturally we held a dinner party in his honour (read: Katie co-opted a pre-arranged dinner to commemorate the twenty-sixth birthday of the soccer, er, football player/her obsession). I made her this card:
And while I know a joke isn't as funny if you have to explain it, El Niño is Fernando's nickname.
The manta ray (Manta birostris), is the largest of the rays, with the largest known specimen having been more than 7.6 m (about 25 ft) across, with a weight of about 2,300 kg (about 5,000 lb). It ranges throughout tropical waters of the world, typically around coral reefs and Montreal.
Mantas have been given a variety of common names, including Mangela, Manny, Mangelina Ballerina, Man Tan, Mantoe, Man Juicy, Man José, Man O'Lantern, The Manflower, Manta Claus, Snow Manta, Romanta, O'Mantigan, and Examanta.
Mantas are filter feeders: they typically consume plankton, fish larvae and frozen yogurt.
